What is The Baby2Baby Gala?
The Baby2Baby Gala in Los Angeles is an annual charity event supporting children in need, and the most recent edition took place this weekend, featuring some of the most stylish Hollywood moms. The gala is not laid out in the traditional style of fundraising events, as it consists of an auction as well as an award being offered to the “celebrity mother who embodies the Baby2Baby mission”. This year, the Giving Tree honor was offered to none other than our current it-mom, Kim Kardashian, who is also one of the foundation’s most active contributors.
Kim Kardashian in All-Pink Balenciaga
While some Balenciaga fans were worried that Kim might have moved on to a collaboration with Dolce & Gabbana, thankfully, it is as clear as day through the Barbie pink Balenciaga statement Kim showed up to the gala in that she is still Demna’s number one muse. The Skims owner received the award in her signature-style body con dress; however, this time, she spiced her usual minimalistic, dark looks for a bubble gum pink gown, cutouts, girly bows, and a mini pink Hourglass, which gave the look that wow factor. To add to the Barbie glam, Kim continues to rock the platinum blonde instead of returning to her natural, glossy black color.
While Kim Kardashian made it at the top of our best-dressed list, we gather our favorite looks at the Baby2Baby gala, alongside some less fortunate choices for the green carpet.
Elsa Hook in Magda Butrym
Elsa Hook is the talk of the moment after her appearance at the gala. The model chose a very simple crochet set, picked out from Magda Butrym’s Spring/Summer 2023, which was accentuated by her goddess-like silhouette and soft glam. Even though we absolutely love Elsa’s look, we can’t help but wonder - is it the set, or is it her model physique that makes an otherwise plain outfit into a red-carpet-worthy moment?
Kylie Jenner in Loewe
Next up, all eyes are on miss Kylie Jenner, who balanced out her sister's vibrant color choice with a sophisticated, Loewe-signed, semi-sheer black gown. While from the front, the dress looks relatively calm and classic, Kylie encouraged fans to shift their attention elsewhere on Instagram "let's hear it for the back of the dress." Indeed, the back of the gown is a sighting, and the overall toned-down vibe of the dress leaves the floor to the jewelry, and of course, Kylie did not disappoint! The young mom opted for dramatic diamond earrings and rings to give a little something to her all-black look.
Emma Roberts in Alexandre Vauthier Couture
Emma Roberts played it safe this time, but you know what they say, better be safe than sorry. The actress chose a simple Alexandre Vauthier Couture gown with a squared neckline and cinched waist giving the classic column dress a rather unique architecture, and elevated the look with a statement moon layered necklace.
Lori Harvey in Off-White
To complete our best-dressed list, Lori Harvey shocked the fans with her Off White moment. If the theme was "alien bride", then the 25-year-old model definitely got the memo. Lori wowed us with a semi-sheer, cascading gown, major back cutout, gloves, and headpiece. She accessorized the look with diamond jewelry, staking multiple rings and bracelets on top of each other, making her the queen of the unconventional at the non-profit event.
Alexandra Daddario in Monique Lhuillie
Moving on to the not so inspired looks of the night, we must welcome Alexandra Daddario to our list, she tried out a gorgeous metal-effect gown from Monique Lhuillier's Fall/Winter 2022 collection; however, entirely not flattering for her skin tone. The overall look is too bright, and the dress's fabric creates a dramatic contrast between it and the actress' skin.
Jasmine Tookes Put Us To Sleep
Regarding Jasmine Tookes's look, all we can say is that her black satin silk gown is putting us to sleep, which is fitting since she chose to attend the gala in a nightgown. Since she went all out on the ‘effortless look’ and decided not to style her hair, Jasmine slightly saved the look with a series of dazzling diamond jewelry pieces.
Kelly Rowland as The Queen of Sea World
Kelly Rowland also attended the Baby2Baby gala, and we must say, it’s giving Sea World. Who decided to put scales on this poor woman’s dress? The lilac color - gorgeous; the makeup - perfect; the hair - stunning. Scrape off those silver details, and you have a look!
Alessandra Ambrosio in Monique Lhuillier
Our list is almost coming to an end, but not without mentioning the appearance of Alessandra Ambrosio, who graced us in a trusty Shein sequin gown. Wait, is it in fact Monique Lhuillier? Our bad.
Ciara in Dolce and Gabbana by Kollin Carter
And last but definitely not least, we have Ciara, who revolutionized all fashion rules by pairing a black tuxedo with…yes, you guessed it - tights. Our advice for the singer is to change the stilettos for some fuzzy socks at her next charity gala and maybe lose the tie for a complete "I woke up like this" look. Ciara's personal stylist, Kollin Carter, should reconsider his choices and definitely the red carpet dress code in the future.
The Baby2Baby gala surely gave us something to talk about these next few days, but one thing we have been asking ourselves is - what was the theme, and why do all the celebs walking the carpet look like they are all coming from a completely different event? One thing is for sure, while we loved some of the looks presented at the event, some celebrity moms should start questioning their choice of a personal stylist.
